Filming Day Three!

Today was our final day of filming! We filmed all the performance shots in the theatre and re shot some of the scenes we weren't happy with from day one.

Here you can see we used the projector to have a image in the background of the performance, we also played the music we are thinking of using over the top when our actresses were performing so that its easier to edit.

Here Etty is using the spotlight to create a effective lighting effect on the stage. We were able to change the filters to give us the effect we wanted and we could also dim and shine the light when appropriate.

In order to do some tracking we needed to create a kind of dolly but as we didn't have a track we had to make do, we used some paper and slipped it under the legs of the tripod then dragged the tripod across the stage.

This is when we re shot some of the scenes from shooting day one.

Filming Day Two!

We filmed again today, we used the school toilets to film our main protagonist getting ready for her show. We filmed with out tripods today to create a edgy effect as Chrissy our main character is in distress and we thought this would be fitting. We didn't need any lights today as the toilets are very open so there is plenty of natural light.

Soundtrack/Music decisions!

Here are two pieces of music we could use in our film opening.

The first is 'To Build A Home' by the Cinematic Orchestra, obviously in order to use this music we would need to ask first as it is most probably copyright! I think this is my favourite of the two pieces just because its more contemporary and a little less depressing. Also i love how the music has shade and light and it leaves spaces. This music fits with our theme perfectly and will be very easy to choreograph our dance routine to for the 'big performance'. Finally the ending of this music fits perfectly with our story line and theme of the opening.

The second clip is a clip i found on you tube, i like the combination of violin and piano, however i do think the piece is a bit repetitive and also even though i know we can edit the music we do have to take into account the length of the piece and i just think this one may be a bit too long.

Filming Day One!

This is our filming day one. We started off first filming in the theatre filming dark, moody shots backstage with our 7 actors. Then we moved on to the stage and began filming their performance.

Here I am filming close ups of the pointe shoes against the black floor of the stage. Next we moved onto filming in the dance studio using the mirrors. We got the girls to pretend to stretch while filming tracking shots around them.

We used a light to give a warm glow to the footage and held it at different angles to create different effects.

Sorting out Location!

To get permission to use the dance studio and theatre at school we had to contact Vicki Light and ask about when they were free and we were able to use them. We emailed her asking for permission which followed in a back and forth reply of emails, until we were able to arrange a time.
(Here is the email conversation we had with her, asking for permission to use the locations and timings of when we can use them). I would just like to say thanks again Vicki Light for your help.

Organising the cast!

In order to organise when we are actually filming as we have so many actors we are keeping our cast members informed which is vital in order to have successful shooting experience, so Etty made a group message on Facebook so that all of our members can stay in touch with the shooting schedule and also what costume they will be needing while shooting.
